Your Life In Your Hands. Prof Jane Plant on Breast Cancer

Prostate Cancer by Prof Jane Plant

The Plant Programme - Recommended diet by Prof Jane Plant

The Late Professor Jane Plant CBE

I had the honour of knowing Professor Plant who became a friend and mentor for many years. Jane was such an inspiration to me and made it possible for me to attend Imperial College, London to study neurosciences as a guest student in 2007 to 2008. Jane was also a supporter of my work to promote patient choice for complimentary medicine within the NHS and she was a keynote speaker at my conference in 2007 to promote integrated research within the NHS in collaboration with Noclor and the late Boo Armstrong - also sadly missed.

These studies were the catalyst for me to understand how acupuncture and herbal medicine could influence our cells and at that time I had hoped to study how Chinese Herbal Medicine could mediate cancer metastasis. I began a science degree to prepare for PHD studies at Imperial but life changes and the creation of Acuregen took me on another path.

Cancer and environmental factors affecting our health were a significant part of Jane’s incredible contribution.

In particular, diet and lifestyle affecting gene expression.

For those challenged by cancer or wishing to adopt lifestyle changes to prevent cancer - I really recommend these books. Recommended in love and memory of a dear friend.

Menopause and other causes of Osteoporosis

Jane was a campaigner against ingestion of dairy as a major factor harming bone health.

A very important read.

Let’s protect men as well.

Studies have shown that dairy intake should also be avoided by men.

Definitive Guide to Acupuncture Points by Chris Jarmey

A fantastic simple to use book. Definitely a case of less is more for those embarking on their first acupuncture learning journey.

The Epigenetics Revolution by Nessa Carey

A Manual of Acupuncture by Peter Deadman et al

This is a short and to the point text book explaining brilliantly all about the importance of understanding how our environment affects our health and fits in so well with how I translate traditional Chinese medicine concepts. Worth the small investment! x Amanda

A ground-breaking text and bible for the acupuncture profession. If you want to dig deeper this is the one to buy. Would suit those studying a full programme of TCM as its loaded with everything you need to expand your acupuncture knowledge.
